Thank you to all the members and associates who attended the Members' Meeting on 12th March at Beaver Park. The Beverley RUFC Committee believed the session to be constructive, and feedback in both directions was broadly well received. The Committee committed to regular updates to the membership with regard to the potential merger with Hull RUFC.
Key updates are:-At the Committee Meeting on 18th March, it was agreed that we would not pursue the merger to commence this year. Work will continue on the due diligence (including financial assessment) but with a view to it commencing in the 2027/28 season.
Both the Yorkshire RFU and Hull RUFC will be informed of this on the same day that this update is shared. Informally, we believe this to be acceptable to both parties, but we will seek confirmation.
A key prerequisite of the potential merger is the ability to have two senior men's teams playing in the league structure. We should be able to confirm this in the next few weeks and will share in due course. If not approved, it will in essence, end the current merger discussions.
As clearly stated at the Members' Meeting, any merger recommendation from the Committee would be subject to an EGM followed by a members' ballot and after a number of consultation meetings. Only paid up members will be able to vote in the ballot, as per rule 6iii of the
Club Constitution and Rules. Membership Types and voting rights are also outlined on the
Club Website.
It was agreed at the Committee Meeting and as a result of the willingness to engage and support the club that two new sub-sections would be established;
1) Fundraising & Sponsorship; and
2) Taskforce - to get jobs done & help existing volunteers. If interested in getting involved please contact
clubdev@beverleyrufc.co.uk.
Given the above decision, the club will be resurrecting our search for a new Head Coach and DoR for appointment at the end of the 2025/26 season. If you have a contribution to this process please contact
clubdev@beverleyrufc.co.uk.
If you have any other feedback, please feel free to share with
clubdev@beverleyrufc.co.uk or, if you want to escalate, please contact
chairman@beverleyrufc.co.uk (Brian Gilbert) or
president@beverleyrufc.co.uk (Carol Innes).
The next communication will be as per feedback received from 3rd parties (as explained above) or, at the latest, after the next Committee Meeting which is scheduled for Wednesday 15th April.
Thank you for your support, commitment & trust.
