Dave Hazell - R.I.P.

29 Dec 2023 by Steve Spurgin

All of us at Beverley RUFC are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of one of our best supporters and patron, Dave Hazell, who passed away on Christmas Eve. Many of us knew Dave who was a regular at the club and came to watch his son Andy but most often his grandson, Luke who we all know as the 1st team fullback.
Dave loved his rugby almost as much as his family and had a rugby league career that he was rightly proud of and would happily recite stories of his often abrasive encounters on the pitch. He did so with a cheeky smile on his face and a sparkle in his eye and with great humour. His advice was invaluable and always welcome. All of us at Beaver Park will miss him very much.
We would like to share our love and sympathies with Dianne, Lee, Irana & Christian, Andy, Stephanie, Luke & Lauren, Claire, Brad & Nelly. We were able to raise a glass in his memory and had a 1-minute silence and then applause at the Boxing Day memorial match.
Dave’s funeral is at 1.30pm, Monday 15th January at Haltemprice Crematorium then back to the Rugby Club.
